Explain and discuss what it means Begin a phonemic awareness lesson
to make a snap judgment—judging by emphasizing the initial consonant someone or something by the way sounds in Mean Mike. Brainstorm they or it looks—and how by doing other M words that could go with so you could miss out on people and Mike’s name (such as Mighty Mike things you may actually like. or Muscles Mike). Ask students to do the same with their own names—Silly Ask students why they think Big Mean Sadie, for example. Mike doesn’t want to be seen with the bunnies. How do the bunnies surprise Mike? How does this change Mike’s feelings?
