II. PROJECT ABSTRACT
A clean and green environment is very important and essential for our daily
lifestyle and for our healthy living. Moreover, gardening can be a productive
family-inclusive activity to embrace during this period when many persons
work at home and students study at home because of a pandemic. Raising a
home garden can be a way for parents and children to deal with stress and
help families achieve a sense of protection from a mental point of view.
During difficult times, historical events have provided us reminders as to how
essential gardening can be in our environment. It's indeed vital at any time to
stay fit and healthy, but it is crucial mostly during coronavirus pandemic. If we
have a garden or outdoor area, then we have a spot we can use to sustain
our well-being and health.
III. BENEFICIARY BACKGROUND
The proposed project focuses in the residence of Corowan family located at

Villa Verde Subdivision, Tagum City, Davao del Norte. The Corowan family is
composed of 5 members. The father, Mr. Felix C. Corowan is currently in
Gensan for work; the eldest daughter, Ms. Beverlie C. Corowan is currently in
Davao also for work. Only the middle son, the youngest son, and the mother
are in the target location as of now. This activity will be beneficial as this will
be a relaxing recreational activity and realizes the importance of growing our
own food, as well as being resilient and resourceful during tough times.
IV. RATIONALE
For our wealth and welfare, we depend entirely on a healthy natural

environment. It’s also important for our economy and social systems, our
homes, and our neighborhoods. As well as our capacity to create stuff, our
happiness, and wellbeing. One of the important problems that humanity is
facing today is the conservation and preservation of the environment,
which we still ignore.
The natural world is being destroyed, which is the result of human actions,
thus, we have the duty to save them. Therefore, in order to combat the
depletion of our natural resources and rejuvenate our environment by
undertaking home gardening and cleaning our surroundings and by
providing effective measures for their conservation and sustainability, a
joint effort between the home members is required. On the other hand, the
proponent came up with the concept of undertaking a home gardening in
the attempt to conserve, preserve and protect Mother Nature, and
eventually the World in a simplest and convenient way by starting these
practices within their home. Even a small initiative makes a big difference
in leaving an on-going environmental legacy in existence through home
gardening. The proponent and, more significantly, the members of the
home will achieve a sense of accomplishment and achievement as a
result of engaging in this program, recognizing that they can make a
meaningful difference. Moreover, the activity helps the family members to
have great family bonding while having fun and giving back to the
environment during this time of pandemic.
To a great degree, the pandemic has modified our lifestyles. We have

undergone a dramatic transition, from spending much of our time outside
the house to heading to the inner sanctums of our households. Thus, this
activity will be an entertaining activity that family members can enjoy
together. This is something people can cultivate and enjoy the result
afterwards. People who grow their food take great pride in it and will
diligently care for the flowers and other plants. With the pandemic bringing
everyone home, this is a wonderful time as a family to invest in gardening.
V. PROJECT GOALS and OBJECTIVES

The general aim of the project is to invest in gardening for a productive and
quality time with the family as well as contributing to help save the Mother
Earth. Towards this end, the following objectives are set:
 Inculcating the importance of resiliency and resourcefulness during

hard times.
 Install the importance of maintaining and preserving the environment
among the participants.
 Connect the benefits of home gardening to participants and if possible
to local residents and encourage environmental stewardship.
