BASIC INFORMATION

Perennialism values knowledge that transcends time. This is


a subject-centered philosophy. The goal of a perennialist
educator is to teach students to think rationally and develop
minds that can think critically.
AIM OF PERENNIALISM

• Aims to develop student’s intellectual and moral


qualities.

• They emphasize that students should not be taught


information that may soon be outdated or found to be
incorrect.
ROLE OF PERENNIALISM

The goal of a perennialist educator is to


teach students to think rationally and
develop minds that can think critically.
THE FOCUS OF PERENNIALISM

• Is to teach ideas that are everlasting.

• To seek enduring truths which are constant (not


changing), the natural and human world at their
most essential level, do not change

BASIC INFORMATION

Essentialism in education asserts that common and essential


ideas and skills belonging to a certain culture should be
taught to all citizens at the same level at especially primary
school level.

Promote intellectual growth of the individual and


educate competent person.
ROLE OF ESSENTIALISM

The teacher is the sole auhority in his or her field


of speculization.
FOCUS OF ESSENTIALISM

Subjects are focused on the historical context of the


material world and culture and move sequentially
to give a solid understanding of the present day.

Educational progressivism is the belief that education must


be based on the principle that humans are social animals
who learn best in real-life activities with other people.
Progressivists claimed to rely on the best available
scientific theories of learning.

Knowledge leads to growth and development of


lifelong learners who actively lear by doing.

BASIC INFORMATION

The reconstructionist classroom contains a teacher who involves

the students in discussions of moral dilemmas to understand the implications of one's actions.

Students individually select their objectives and social priorities and then, with guidance from the teacher, create a plan of action to make the change

happen.
