What does Barclays travel insurance offer?

Barclays Travel Pack, an annual multi-trip policy, can be bought along with breakdown cover for a combined cost of £14.50 a month (for a minimum period of six months). To purchase the cover you must also have a Barclays current account. 

Its travel insurance is underwritten by Aviva Insurance Limited.

How good is Barclays at handling claims?

The latest data from the Financial Conduct Authority show that Aviva Insurance Ltd – which underwrites the Barclays policy – paid out 75-80% of claims made on annual European policies in 2022 – in line with the average of 76%.

Aviva paid out 80-85% of claims made on annual worldwide policies – aligned with the average of 82%.

It accepted 75-80% of claims made on single-trip policies – above the average of 73%.

Before calling for cancellation claims, you should contact your travel agent and/or airline to seek a refund or to move your trip.
