Lesser-known Kalymnos is the cheapest Greek island for a summer holiday in 2024, according to Which? Travel’s exclusive analysis.
We checked thousands of holiday prices for summer 2024, and found that
£843 per person for a week on the tiny Dodecanese island was the cheapest price on average.
Package holidays including flights were more than £500 cheaper for Kalymnos than Crete, where a week will set you back £1,369 on average.

Kalymnos is not just the cheapest Greek island to visit - we also recently found it is the cheapest package holiday destination in Europe.
Stay in its timeless whitewashed capital, Pothia, facing the Aegean or kick back on seaside resort, Myrties - with its long, unspoiled pebbly beach. The island’s mountains are also popular with climbers.
Kalymnos is a 40-minute boat ride from Kos (transfers included in the holiday price).

Skopelos, Lefkada and Zakynthos cheap too

Kalymnos wasn’t the only bargain to be had. A week on Skopelos this summer will set you back around £900 per person. The sleepy island in the Northern Sporades is blanketed in olive groves, orchards and virgin pine forest.
Meanwhile, a week’s holiday to Lefkada or Zakynthos (Zante) costs £920 on average. Both are popular with visitors in our survey of the best and worst Greek islands. Lefkada in the Ionian Sea was awarded the full five stars for its scenery and food and drink.
Hire a boat to explore the green islets, waterfront tavernas and tiny beaches around Nidri Bay. Or relax on the craggy west-coast beaches wedged under huge vertical cliffs.

When we asked visitors to rate their Greek holidays Kefalonia was voted best -clinching five stars for its scenery, beaches, and peace and quiet in our survey.
While the cliffy coastline is spectacular, its interior - lush with vineyards, citrus groves and forests of cypress - also begs to be explored.
It’s also cheaper than many other Greek islands. We found that a week’s package holiday to Kefalonia was a reasonable £956 per person - making it the fifth cheapest island in our analysis.

Zakynthos offers the best value for those wanting to pay all of their costs upfront this summer. A week’s package with flights and all meals thrown in costs £1,080 on average.
The island is famous for the scenic Navagio (shipwreck) beach, flanked by limestone cliffs and only accessible by boat. Here, the rusting remains of an old freightliner – washed ashore in 1980 – offer a beguiling contrast to the golden sands.

Our research
We gathered the prices of 5,403 package holidays from the UK’s biggest tour operators – Jet2holidays and Tui – in April 2024. The average price is for a seven-night holiday including flights, departing on or around 3 August, based on two people sharing a standard double or twin room. We only included destinations with a minimum availability of holidays.
