Which? Awards 2024: winners revealed

Discover the brands that went above and beyond for customers this year, including Honda, Jet2 and Samsung

The winners of this year's Which? Awards have been revealed, celebrating the companies that you can rely on.

Our independent judges look for brands that offer outstanding products, great customer service and value for money. Among the winners was broadband provider Zen Internet, which took home the first ever Which? Award for customer service.

Two other new categories launched this year, too: Best Value Appliance Brand, for which Beko took the crown, and Best Baby and Child Brand, won by Cybex.

The winning brands were announced at a ceremony in London on 20 May, hosted by BBC presenter Victoria Derbyshire. Below, we list all of this year's winners and shortlisted brands.

Which? Banking Brand of the Year

  • Winner: Starling Bank
  • Also shortlisted: Coventry Building Society, Nationwide

Customers wax lyrical about app-based Starling Bank. When we asked current account holders to rate their bank, it clinched the maximum five stars for overall service as well as for its app, its website and dealing with complaints or resolving problems.

This is the fourth year Starling has scooped the banking brand award and been named a Which? Recommended Provider.

Which? Insurance Brand of the Year

  • Winner: NFU Mutual
  • Also shortlisted: LV, WPA

Judges said NFU Mutual led the field when it came to feedback from claimants in our customer surveys. For both car and home insurance, it has the highest customer score among all providers rated. It’s also the top scorer for claims handling.

NFU Mutual – which also won the Which? Award for insurance last year – is the only brand that earned recommended provider status for both home and car insurance.

Which? Travel Brand of the Year

  • Winner: Jet2
  • Also shortlisted: Brittany Ferries, The Landmark Trust, Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Premier Inn

Tour operator and short-haul airline Jet2 scooped Travel Brand of the Year for the third year running. The judges commended it for earning much better customer scores and star ratings than comparable mass-market travel firms and airlines in our travel surveys.

It’s a Which? Recommended Provider for package holidays ranging from all-inclusive getaways to city breaks – and its prices are competitive.

Which? Retailer of the Year

  • Winner: Richer Sounds
  • Also shortlisted: Euronics, QVC, Richer Sounds, Seasalt Cornwall

Audio visual specialist Richer Sounds was the standout brand across all our retail surveys, with one of the highest customer scores ever awarded. It also earned top marks for value for money.

This is the sixth year in a row it’s won the Which? Award for retail. And in the unlikely event that something does go wrong with your purchase, its returns policies are second-to-none.

Which? Utilities Brand of the Year

  • Winner: Smarty
  • Also shortlisted: Giffgaff, Octopus Energy, Zen Internet

Value for money, great customer service and pricing transparency are key to this mobile provider's success.

When you want unlimited or a modest amount of data, Smarty deals are cheap and come with a generous free EU roaming allowance. That's why it was the only provider to receive both Which? Recommended Provider and Great Value endorsements.

Which? Customer Service Brand of the Year

  • Winner: Zen Internet
  • Also shortlisted: Euronics, Jet2, NFU Mutual, Richer Sounds, Viking

Broadband provider Zen Internet consistently impresses its customers, who gave it high ratings for its connections, customer service and value for money. It's also one of just a handful of major broadband companies to firmly resist the industry trend of introducing unfair and unpredictable mid-contract price rises.

Which? Car Brand of the Year

  • Winner: Honda
  • Also shortlisted: Genesis, KIA, Toyota

All the Honda models we've tested to date have performed well due to their efficiency, quality and practicality. They're also reliable, so it's no wonder that Honda earned top marks for customer satisfaction in the latest Which? car survey.

Which? Baby and Child Brand of the Year

  • Winner: Cybex
  • Also shortlisted: Bugaboo, Joie, Nuna, VTech

Cybex was a clear choice for the winner of the first ever Which? Baby and Child Brand of the Year, thanks to its high number of high-performing products in our lab tests, including the joint highest-scoring child car seat.

It’s a high-end brand, but you’re paying for safety, certainty and quality.

Which? Computing Brand of the Year

  • Winner: Samsung
  • Also shortlisted: Apple, Bitdefender, Canon, Samsung

Common themes among Samsung’s laptops are great battery life, vibrant screens and speedy performance. Six of the eight laptops that we tested this year earned Which? Best Buy status.

Samsung was also one of Which? members’ favourite laptop brands, with excellent satisfaction and product reliability scores in our surveys.

Which? Home Entertainment Brand of the Year

  • Winner: LG
  • Also shortlisted: Bowers & Wilkins, JBL, Marshall, Samsung

Phenomenal picture quality and stunning sound mean LG’s TVs are the complete package. Its OLED sets continue to be the best TVs money can buy, with every single one getting our Best Buy recommendation.

LG’s audio tech is also outstanding, with good-value soundbars and some of the best wireless speakers around.

Which? Best Value Appliance Brand of the Year

  • Winner: Beko
  • Also shortlisted: Cookology, Hisense, Logik

Judges were impressed by the number of Beko products that were awarded Great Value status – products that perform outstandingly in our lab tests and won’t burn a hole in your pocket.

Over the past year, Which? has tested 32 of Beko’s products, including tumble dryers, washing machines, air fryers and coffee machines – and an impressive 28% were named Great Value models.

Which? Trusted Trader of the Year

  • Winner: Move On Removals & Storage
  • Also shortlisted: AJT Showers, Associated Stairlifts, LCM Flat Roofing

This Bristol-based, family-run removal company received the Trusted Trader award, which celebrates great local businesses.

Move On Removals & Storage offers reliable, friendly service and takes care of its customers’ possessions and property. One customer said: ‘From the get-go, they made everything effortless and stress-free.’

‘The Awards recognise best practice for consumers’

Anabel Hoult, Which? chief executive, said: ‘This year, Which? has launched a new Customer Service Brand of the Year award to recognise best practice in the industries and encourage firms to follow their lead.

‘Whether they’ve been awarded for high customer scores in our survey, excellent customer support or great-value products, all of this year’s awardees should be very proud of what they’ve achieved in winning this award.

‘The awards, which have been running since 2007, recognise best practice for consumers and give awards to businesses and products from banks to home entertainment brands.’

How we select Which? Awards winners

At Which?, our product tests and investigations are 100% independent – and the same applies when it comes to the Which? Awards. We aren't influenced by any third parties when deciding which brands make our shortlists and win, and brands can't nominate themselves.

To select the winning brands, our expert judging panel takes into account our stringent lab tests and customer satisfaction surveys. We also look for companies that offer good value and go the extra mile for their customers.

Which? is a not-for-profit organisation that works for you. Visit our page on who we are to learn more about the work we do.
