When making a reservation, what is the difference between the Outside patio lounge and Outside patio table options? Also, is the outside patio different from the rooftop?

Q:
Hi, I just booked a reservation for outside seating on Oct 20 in the late evening. Is the outside seating going to be okay if it is cold? Do you have an enclosure or heaters or something?
A:
Hi Roger! We have heaters installed on the patio and have blankets available upon request, and suggest dressing for the weather. We look forward to welcoming you!

I saw this restaurant in my credit card travel recommendations after I booked a flight to Chicago, so I figured why not? My husband and I had to do an earlier dinner time due to the timing of our flight home, so we ate at 5pm. This meant we got a few items from the happy hour menu- including a tasting of 3 dips and the fried halloumi. Oh my GOD that fried halloumi will stay with me always. Paired with labneh and honey with some fresh basil- it was beyond delectable.
Equally tasty was the lamb Raghu, which was served with hummus and pita. Those two dishes were the stars of the show. The Brussels sprouts were a bit salty and the dips were fine (although I think the smoked eggplant was the best and I'd order it again as a full dish).
Our server Erik was on top of everything and made the experience that much better. I would recommend coming with at least 4 people so that you can share even more dishes. The fun of coming to a place like Aba is to try it all. Sad I missed out on the crème brûlée pie (with rhubarb compote)! I didn't have room... so if you go, try some for me. I came here for a work event and had a lovely time. Aba has a beautiful third floor patio space that's perfect for a cool summer day. The service was absolutely outstanding with delicious bites coming around constantly. I particularly liked the chicken meatballs. The cheesecake for dessert was also lovely. I really enjoyed coming here and hope to come in my personal capacity in the future.

Made a reservation here for my first night in the city, and it definitely set the bar high for the rest of the trip! We arrived at 5:30 and were seated immediately at the covered patio. Although it was pretty cold outside (mid-March), the patio was warm and had some good views of the city.
We ordered the All of Our Favorite Spreads as an appetizer. My favorite was the eggplant, though all of the spreads were delicious. Our server also provided extra bread for our group of 5. He recommended that we order a few entrees to share, so we tried a variety of options from the menu. My favorites were the crispy potatoes and the brussels sprouts. The portions were much larger than we expected, so we ended up with lots of leftovers.
Our server was so kind and attentive, and the restaurant itself is upscale and relaxed. This is a great place for locals and tourists alike, and I highly recommend Aba!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 24, 2024
Captivating, elegant interior
Tasty & well executed dishes! Our server said it's the best falafel in town and had to see for ourselves- it ended up being our fave dish!
Great service

Stopped by at this place with a friend. Reservation required. It's a very pretty place with amazing food. We tried some zero proof cocktails as well as food dishes. Service was quick too. We got fava beans humus to start with, a side of egg and cheese pide thing (forgot the real name), and some falafels. While I loved the rare cooked egg oozing out of the pide while cutting it, my fav was the fresh falafel. I wasn't a big fan of fava beans hummus because it seemed a bit dry. The ambience is really pretty too, they have indoor and outdoor patio. Indoor has a huge glass ceiling that gives it a patio feel itself. I'll surely try this place again.

It's Chicago restaurant week and I had to come try out Aba for this $59 deal which included a drink, spread, plate and dessert! My friends and I all got different items so we could try out more of the menu.
We ordered the whipped feta, smoky garlic hummus, hamachi, grilled salmon, grilled chicken, crispy chicken thighs, sticky date cake, chocolate cake, and carrot cake.
I will have to say my favs were the whipped feta, smoky garlic hummus, grilled salmon, crispy chicken thighs and the sticky date cake we were all stuffed midway through our meal!!! I am already dreaming about the next time I get to go here again highly recommend trying out Aba especially for their deal during restaurant week!
Service was good and the decor at Aba is so cute! There's a lot of mirrors throughout the restaurant and before going into the elevator to get upstairs. I will say it's easy to miss the entrance to Aba if it's your first time!!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 0 - Kathy K.Chicago, IL2251015Jul 13, 2024
We came to celebrate my birthday (fiancé booked our reservation a month in advance) and it was wonderful! Service was very attentive and food came out warm and fresh. We are big eaters and brought half our food home. Decor was nice as well, lighting wasn't too dim which I appreciate.
Some highlights:
- Charred eggplant dip: a MUST, and they give you a ton of bread on the side
- Shortrib hummus: meat was tender and hummus was very smooth, almost like mashed potatoes
- Truffle orzo: very rich and creamy, you almost have to take small bites because the umami flavor is so strong
- Mediterranean Mule: a very light and refreshing drink to go with the meal
Overall we would definitely come back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nazanin A.Newport Beach, CA039Jul 19, 2024
Everything about my experience here was wonderful. I went with one of my girlfriends and we had the best time. The drinks, the food, the ambiance, the service, absolutely everything was on spot!
Food style is shareable, I recommend 2-3 dishes per person to share!
This would be a great spot for date night or a spot to go drink and have small bites with friends!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 12, 2024
I finally found the time to stop in and try this hot spot in the West Loop! Located on the 3rd floor, this spacious and beautiful spot is a tapas style restaurant with a wide variety of offerings for both food and drinks. It can be difficult to get a 'dinner' reservation here as we were able to snatch a 9pm spot so I recommend planning accordingly when it comes to making reservations. Our server Alexis was great in addition to the sommelier - it made the experience wonderful.
With the help of their sommelier, we started off with a glass of red wine, which paired wonderfully with all of our dishes. The Hamachi was super light and refreshing as it was paired with citrus and starfruit - one of my favorites. The famous short rib hummus is definitely a must-try as it melts in your mouth. I would recommend asking for more pita bread on the side! The lamb and beef kefta was flavorful and juicy, pairing well with the basmati rice. The roasted pork belly was good but this one didn't wow me as much. We somehow got our crispy potatoes last which I had hoped we got it first before everything because by the time it came out, we got full. The cripsy potatoes remind me of sour cream ruffle chips - super good but only when fresh. We wrapped up our meal with the amazing sticky date cake that my friend had recommended - we practically inhaled this and everyone and their mother should get it!
I would love to bring friends here and look forward to visiting during the daytime!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
