I want to say that the service we received was exceptional. Our server was on point on explaining all menu items and catering to our needs.
The food was good too. The steak tar tar and dry aged steak was the star of the show. The stone crab legs were average at best. No flavor and them smashing the claw for you makes it harder to eat.
I think the tables were too close together. There wasn't much wiggle room between our table and the guests dining next to us.
Will probably come back but not in a hurry.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Dec 26, 2023
Joe's has to be one of my FAVORITE Chicago restaurants. Now, I know it's a chain with a few other locations, but the one in Chicago never misses. It's a classy, upscale restaurant that makes you feel a little fancy when you're dining in. The servers are knowledgeable about the cuisine while the support staff make the meal a seamless experience. I swear my old plates are gone and the new ones are there before I can blink an eye. Then when I blink again, my water is full!
To the food... you cannot go wrong with any of it. When the Stone Crab is in season, it's a must. One unexpected surprise is that they are one of the best places to get pies. Especially The Key Lime (one of my all-time favorite desserts). Other than those two recommendations, go and have fun! You really can't go wrong with anything. Few of my other recommendations would be the Chopped Salad and Oysters Rockefeller.
Try to make it for cocktail hour (2pm-4pm Mon-Fri)! $6 mini burgers, $7 half dozen oysters, and $7 Old Fashioned ... what's not to like?Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 2 - Jessica R.Evans, GA0163Jun 16, 2024
We went here for our anniversary. The food was excellent from start to finish. The oysters and accompaniments were fresh. We ordered the 1.5 lb crab with table side service. It was fresh, flavorful and did not make a mess having to fight the shells because our garçon cracked and cut for us table side. We had the mushrooms as a side: juicy, plump and a unique seasoning that was not under or overwhelming. We had to try the pies: banana cream, Boston cream, peanutbutter mousse and key lime was complimentary. We should have just ordered the half slices so beware, but we feasted on the leftovers for a few days. The each were delicious in their own ways. The Boston cream was even better than I had in Boston, the banana cream was tasty interesting take but not what I expected. My husband loved (understatement) the peanut butter pie and the key lime was perfect tart and sweet balance.
Our server was Jia, he was very helpful in our choices, witty and attentive. We never had to ask for a thing. He anticipated what we needed before we realized it. He took great care with my allergy and provided a relaxing and enjoyable meal.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1 - Nov 7, 2023
So this is the only place, far and wide, you can get this delicious crab claw.
As we all know, the original is in Miami. Florida has this delicious treat. I've heard there is one in Las Vegas now? I am not sure and did not see it. Here I am in Chicago. Having a delicious roasted beet salad and a big stone crab claw. What a lunch! How delicious.
If you are ever in Chi town and you've not had a stone crab claw, I highly recommend that you come to Joe's and check it out. So delicious.
Ambience is elegant and old-school. Service is awesome. Food is amazing.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 4, 2024
I landed at night and by the time I made it in the city, it was 9:30pm. I walked around to find food to eat and joes was around the corner. I hurry sat myself at the bar, ordered Riesling and a king crab roll really quick. Their kitchen was closing soon and I was starving. The crab roll was good and I liked the potato chips. It was fresh potato. It was just a tad bit too oily on some pieces so I left them and ate the non greasy chips. Service was great! They were very friendly.

The ambiance was nice and the service was quick, always had plenty of water on the table. I ordered the Colossal Crab Cake and Seafood platter and my girlfriend had the salmon, we also ordered the macaroni and broccolini. I didn't care for the broccolini but my gf did. The bread that came out before dinner was amazing too I didn't expect that. Definitely would come bacc again.

Joe's Restaurant was excellent. My Chef and I attended the National Food Show conference.
My Dover sole was over the top, the scallops were excellent and plentiful.
Our wait staff was by far the best I've experienced in years. Jodette was funny, knowledgeable and not to pushy.
Highly recommend a dinner reservation here.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Miquel S.Edwardsville, IL01322Jul 24, 2024

The service is perfection at Joe's. I liked all of the food this time except for the mashed potatoes, just did not care for the flavor. I like the hash browns but prefer the lyonnaise, after trying them both. Fried shrimp was ok but I like the breading better at Shaw's. I also tried the apple, s'mores, and chocolate pies. All 3 were good. I also like that they have Allagash.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Nov 27, 2023Previous reviewJoe's was pretty great overall. Really good service. The bread basket came with a variety of breads. I tried the mixed green salad, shrimp cocktail, madagascar shrimp, ribeye, mushrooms, mac and cheese, and lyonnaise potatoes. Everything was great except the mushrooms, bland and soggy, soaked in liquid. Go to Gibson's for mushrooms. And no house made steak sauce, bummer. The mac was creamy, even the next day. Better than the mac I had at MJ Steakhouse the day before. I like the dressing on the salad. Amazing potatoes. Madagascar shrimp was good but not quite worth the price.
I also got some pie to go. I tried the Boston cream, Havana, coconut, banana, key lime, and peanut butter pie. I ordered apple but it was forgotten and I had to call to have it refunded. The banana was bland but everything else was good. Boston cream was my favorite. - 17164262Apr 5, 2024
Everything was amazing here, from the food to the service! Stephen our server made sure all our needs were met and navigated us through the large menu they offer. The restaurant on the inside seems never ending! Always bustling with people.
The food, wow!! The steak cooked to perfection which came with a side of dipping salt. The lobster was generous on the Mac and cheese. The grilled seafood platter came with a generous amount of shrimp, scallops and lobster for sharing.
So glad we were able to stop here in Chicago!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
