Proclamation: After an exhaustive two decade testing period, I've come to the conclusion that the best burrito in San Francisco can be found at Taqueria Cancun. Yes, there are other fantastic taquerias that some may argue are better and sometimes I might agree but by and large, I can't think of a better executed food log anywhere else. Me encanta el burrito de cerdo a la barbacoa con salsa verde mejor. That's my 2 pesos.

Been coming here for 14 years now and their veggie burrito has never missed! I get mine with black beans. They have great nachos, as well.

This taqueria is regularly mentioned as one of the top burritos in San Francisco. But due to my lack of adventure when it comes to trying new taquerias, (I like sticking to the ones I know are good) especially in San Francisco, this was my first time trying Taqueria Cancun. So how was it?
It's a pretty simple grading system for burritos. The ratio of ingredients, the quality, the price, the size, and the cleanliness and friendliness of the taqueria and its staff. With all that being said, Taqueria Cancun is somewhere in middle or slightly higher than the middle of the burrito hierarchy.
Super steak burrito: Definitely better than burritos in Oakland, (which isn't saying much) but compared with all the great taquerias in SF, it's a solid option. At $12.25 a burrito, it's probably the middle of the pack regarding price as well. Ratio and quality of ingredients was excellent. Size was not gut busting but not small.
The staff were efficient and my burrito came fairly quickly at 3pm on a Thursday afternoon. Whether they were friendly, I didn't have enough interaction to determine that.
Would I go again? Absolutely. Would I recommend trying it? Yes. Is it the best? No, but it's a solid option.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - Carol D.San Francisco, CA1515268Aug 3, 2023
Decided to try this taco place in mission. I got 2 carne asada tacos - they def give a good amount of meat. The meat was tender and juicy. Their sauces were on point as well, if it was slightly more spicy, it would've been better. Overall, pretty great place to get tacos late at night.

I've gotten a burrito from them a few years ago, and I remembered this place as soon as I walked in today. I got their ceviche tostada, which was great! The chips were a bit stale, and a lil light on the dips in their containers. The horchata was great, too. Overall, would come here again for a quick authentic bite.

So far the best mission burrito we have had in the mission. We got the carne asada super burritos and they were absolutely perfect from the tortilla to the meat to the ripe avocado. They give you chips and salsa, and the green salsa was so good I would buy it in a jar. They also have a super breakfast burrito, definitely going to need to come back for that one!

I had the Carnitas burrito. It was good overall, but had a lot of big fat pieces, which I don't really like. I also bit into a big chunk of bone which was less than pleasant. I'd give this place another chance because of the good reviews, but feeling pretty meh right now.

As good as some of the other Mexican places on mission but there is a guaranteed smaller line and wait for food at Cancun. They have the full menu from open to close so you can snack on tacos early or late or go for a full meal at normal times.
The walls are lined with articles and awards for Cancun. It is in the middle of Mission so it can be quite packed.
I love the carnitas the most here. In taco or burrito form it's delicious and always packed full. The tortillas are also delicious and not too oily.
Have to give a shout out to the green salsa. It's a super vibrant green and taste fresher and less watery than other places with the same salsa.Helpful 10Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0 - Raphaël M.San Francisco, CA2164Dec 18, 2023
Best taqueria in town in my opinion. Super Burrito is my go to. Been coming here since I was in high school. Always the place I take out of town visitors and always the first burrito I get when I've been away.
