An assortment of works by Spanish icons – Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí -- will be highlights of the event while the auction will also feature French masters such as Renoir, Matisse and Buffet. Incidentally, both France and Spain are jointly celebrating Pablo Picasso's 50th death anniversary this year. Picasso was born in the Spanish city of Malaga on October 25,1881 and died at Mougins, in the French Riviera, on April 8, 1973.

Picasso's `Nu Couche' -- a figurative work executed with a pencil on paper in 1969, will be auctioned off at an estimated Rs 4-5 crore, AstaGuru said. Henri Matisse's `Nu Allonge' -- a nude work depicts a figure in a reclining pose, executed with pencil on paper in 1920 -- is expected to fetch Rs 65-75 lakh. Dalí's famous sculpture titled ‘Horse Saddled with Time,’ a first from a limited edition of eight, will also be on offer. Executed with bronze in 1980, this work blends two significant themes recurrent in Salvador Dalí’s career: horses and clocks, is estimated to be sold at Rs 3.7-5 crore.
