The official release of the Google Pixel 8 series is just a week away and the excitement around it is not solely fueled by speculation as a lot of information about the upcoming flagship has already surfaced.

Ahead of the launch of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro on October 4 at the Made by Google event, their complete design, specifications and even prices have been leaked by noted tipsters like Kamila Wojciechowska & 91Mobiles.

So, with all the leaks in place, let's delve into what the upcoming flagship smartphone line-up from Google has to offer.

    'Super Actua' Display

This year, Google will be introducing 'Super Actua' displays for improved brightness levels and optimal visibility even in bright sunlight. The Pixel 8 will feature a 6.2-inch FHD+ OLED display with a dynamic 60Hz-120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits.

Meanwhile, the Pixel 8 Pro will have a larger 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display with a similar refresh rate range and an even brighter peak brightness of up to 2,400 nits.

    Tensor G3 Processor & Titan M2 security

Both the upcoming smartphones will be powered by Google's Tensor G3 chipset, paired alongside the Titan M2 security co-processor.

The new Tensor G3 chipset, rumoured to be based on the Samsung Exynos 2300, offers enhanced efficiency and performance, with a potential Cortex-X3 core running at 3.0GHz and support for 8K video.

Battery Life & 23W Wireless Charging

Battery longevity is a priority, as the Pixel 8 houses a 4,575mAh battery with support of up to 27W fast charging and Qi-certified wireless charging up to 18W.

The Pixel 8 Pro boasts a larger 5,050mAh battery with support for up to 30W fast charging and Qi-certified wireless charging up to 23W.

50MP Octa PD Camera & Storage

In the camera department, both variants share a 50MP Octa PD wide camera and a 10.5MP Dual PD front camera. Features like OIS and EIS will add to the camera capabilities.

However, the Pixel 8 Pro elevates photography with a 48MP Quad PD ultrawide camera and a 48MP Quad PD telephoto camera, capable of impressive Super Rez Zoom up to 30x. These camera enhancements promise stunning photos and versatility for photography enthusiasts.

Meanwhile, storage options vary, with the Pixel 8 offering 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, while the Pixel 8 Pro comes with an 8GB LPDDR5X RAM variant and storage options of up to 1TB (exclusive to the US) or 512GB for the rest of the world.

    Connectivity & Corning Gorilla Durability

Both the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will offer advanced connectivity options, including Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth v5.3, and NFC capabilities. Durability is assured with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection for the cover and back, as well as an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.

    Design Changes

The design evolution of the Pixel 8 series is worth noting. While the Pixel 8 retains some design elements from its predecessor, it features rounded corners and a more compact form factor.

In contrast, the Pixel 8 Pro showcases a significant alteration with a flat display, departing from the curved edge design of its predecessors. The camera bar, housing the impressive camera array, has undergone a redesign to accommodate two lenses more closely.

    Vibrant Color Choices

According to reports from MySmartPrice, along with official-looking renders, both the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will be offered in three distinct colour options each, offering potential buyers a variety of options to suit their preferences. The colour options for the Pixel 8 series are as follows:

    • Pixel 8 Pro: Obsidian, Porcelain, and Sky Blue
    • Pixel 8: Peony Rose, Gray, and Obsidian

    Software Updates & Price

Both these smartphones prioritise security and software updates, committing to providing 7 years of OS and security updates. This ensures users stay protected and up-to-date with the latest features and patches. The under-display fingerprint sensor and Face ID further enhance the security features.

While pricing details are still under wraps, there are speculations that the Pixel 8 may be priced at $699 (approx. Rs 59,000), slightly higher than its predecessor. The Pixel 8 Pro's pricing remains uncertain as well.
