A 53-year-old woman chased after her dreams and finished Class 10 SSC (Secondary School Certificate) in Maharashtra after 37 years. The inspiring story of Kalpana Jambhale is going viral on the Internet and for all the right reasons as the woman, who has two kids, didn't just pass the 10th grade exam but also scored 79.60 per cent.

The woman's son Prasad Jambhale, who stays in Ireland, took to LinkedIn to praise his mother and shared her story with the world where he revealed how the 53-year-old managed to keep it a secret from her family, juggled her life, planned a wedding and still scored exceptionally well in the exam.

Jambhale was only 16 when she lost her father and financial responsibilities started mounting up at home. In order to make sure her siblings receive proper education, she quit her studies and started working.

So she never got to finish her 10th grade.

But last year, the 53-year-old was at a government school when a teacher asked her about her education. After knowing that she didn't finish her Class 10, the teacher informed Jambhale about the new government scheme where those who have not completed their SSC can reappear for the exam now.

So Jambhale resumed her studies and started attending night school in December 2021. She kept it a secret from her husband and two sons. Whenever her son Prasad would call home from Ireland, which was usually during Indian night-time, he was told that his mother had gone out for a walk.

When Prasad came home for his wedding in India, Jambhale showed him the notebook she has been maintaining. The son was amazed to see how good his mother was in English and Algebra. He was overwhelmed to see how even after so many years, his mother was able to grasp different learning and was a brilliant student in her batch.

"She also showed me photos of how their group of people who left education are now celebrated, now that they have decided to resume," he said.

The woman, who appeared for the Class 10 exam in March, also managed to pull off her son's wedding in February successfully.

Seeing his mother fulfil her dream and do well, it made Prasad reflect on his own privileges and wonder how far his mother would have come in life if she had received the comfort as him.

"Sometimes I feel I am so fortunate that I had no worries about anything and was able to get to the position, just because of the privilege I have. Who knows what my mother could have achieved more? If she had the same privilege as me,” he further wrote in his post. .

In the end, Prasad praised his mother for setting a right example for him as this achievement has imprinted a lesson in his mind to never stop learning.

"Have always been very proud of my mother and now this would always imprint a lesson in my mind, never stop learning, even if has to take an age of 53 to pass the SSC," Prasad said in his post.
