Kunal Kinalekar's last holiday was set to begin just a few days before India entered the lockdown period.
    Lockdown regrets
“We have lived under restrictions for so many months, that there are a few things that I have absolutely. Travelling to different places and the experiences that come along with it. Whether it was domestic, international or even for work – I used to be on the road for more than a week every month and that is something I really miss. I will be back at it soon once restrictions are eased and it’s safe to travel. Working from home, and lack of any movement or activity has made me realise the importance of working out at a gym. It works as stress buster for me more than anything, and also helps keep my weight in check.”

    Alpine getaway
“Unfortunately, my last holiday was set to begin just a few days before India entered the lockdown period on March 24. I am planning to reschedule that holiday with my wife when travel begins. We will go to a few European countries starting from Netherlands, Belgium, France and ending in Switzerland – mostly a cross-country road trip. However, we will have to re-plan depending on the restrictions in each country.”

    Self-care

“Since the lockdown first started, I have mostly cut my own hair and sadly, I am not very good at it. Even now that things have eased a bit, I am still not very comfortable getting into a closed space with a lot of people around. So when some normalcy is restored, I plan to get myself a good haircut and probably some stress relief massage.

“I am a sucker for Asian food. In Mumbai, I used to love Foo (the restaurant). I believe they have just started to serve again but I will wait to hear some feedback first. I’m also looking forward to visit Din Tai Fung in Singapore when I can travel back. They make the best Asian food that I have ever tasted.”

    Shopping cart
“I have never been excited about shopping, but the shopping priorities have drastically changed during the lockdown. For instance, I have been purchasing comfortable but presentable home wear so that I can seem neat on video calls. But the only shopping list I have created is a list of devices I want to buy and/or probably should have bought before lockdown started. One of it is a Play Station, and since the new generation of it is due to launch in India soon, I am sure I will make a purchase.”

    Tech dependence
“My work is heavily reliant on having access to all the tech that I can use. Further, considering the extended WFH scenario, my dependence on gadgets has grown even more. In the lockdown, I was finally able to identify and justify the difference in the need to use my phone, iPad and laptop. I loved the continuity some device ecosystems provides which makes my life easier. I think only one product which would have made it even better or smoother, would be a pair of noise-cancelling headphones like Bose NC700. It will probably be my next purchase.”

    Food and fitness
“My love for food has led me to learn cooking during the lockdown. I cooked a lot of Asian food, which was perhaps not as good as I would’ve liked it to be, but decent enough to keep my cravings at bay. Some YouTube videos, a chef’s knife and some good chopping skills helps a long way. I have been working out regularly. Some bodyweight exercises, some with resistance bands and a good walk at the end of the day, is the routine I follow. I cannot wait to go to a gym and workout with equipment once normalcy is restored.”
