Helmed by Karan Malhotra, 'Shamshera' is set in the fictitious city of Kaza.
After a long wait of four years, Ranbir Kapoor has finally returned to the silver screen with his first release in 2022, 'Shamshera'. The period drama also stars Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt.

While a lot is riding on Kapoor's film, the reviews and first day reaction at the box office are nothing but negative. As per film trade analyst, Taran Adarsh, the opening day of 'Shamshera' at the box office ended on an underwhelming note as the film performed below expectations.

According to the box office numbers mentioned by Adarsh, the period action drama could only mint Rs 10.25 crore approximately on its first day.

This is a pretty low score for a film that happens to be one of the most expensive Hindi films ever made.

Produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner Yash Raj Films, 'Shamshera', which has been released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, took two months of preparations and over 300 people to build the film's set. It took almost two years to wrap the filming of 'Shamshera'.

However, the film's performance on Saturday and Sunday at the box office will set the record straight on whether the film is a hit or a flop.

Helmed by Karan Malhotra, 'Shamshera' is set in the fictitious city of Kaza, where a warrior tribe is imprisoned, enslaved and tortured by a ruthless authoritarian general Shuddh Singh (played by Dutt).

Meanwhile, Kapoor will next be seen in Ayan Mukherji's 'Brahmastra', which also stars Alia Bhatt. The sci-fi superhero film tells the story of a young man who meets a girl and started to fall in love with her, but his life is turned upside down when he discovers he has the power to control fire and a link to those who guard the society from evil forces.
