After Kamal Haasan’s ‘Vikram’ it seems, Dhanush’s ‘Thiruchitrambalam’ is on its way to becoming the most profitable Tamil film of the year. The film released on August 18, 2022, was made on a budget of around Rs 30 crore.

As of September 5, the film has grossed over Rs 94.25 crores worldwide. Incidentally, this would also be Dhanush’s biggest grosser globally after his Hindi blockbuster ‘Raanjhanaa’.

The film registered phenomenal success at the box-office. The weekend saw collections to the tune of Rs 5 crore. The film’s biggest competition was Vikram’s ‘Cobra’ which was released on August 31. However, despite the big-budget film’s overpowering presence, ‘Thiruchitrambalam’ continues to attract footfalls.

The film helmed by Mithran R Jawahar stars Dhanush, Nithya Menen, Bharathiraja, Prakash Raj, Raashii Khanna, and Priya Bhavani Shankar. The film produced by Sun Pictures has music by Anirudh Ravichander.

‘Thiruchitrambalam’ is Dhanush’s first theatrical film since Karnan which was released in 2021. The actor last appeared on ‘The Gray Man’ which marked his Hollywood debut. ‘Thiruchitrambalam’ largely received positive reviews with many praising the simplistic narration and feel-good factor. Dhanush and Nithya’s performances have been hailed by critics and audiences.

Dhanush plays a delivery driver Jr. Pazham who lives with his strict father. A romantic family drama with a dash of humour seems to be winning the hearts of the audience. The soundtrack of the film has been garnering praise from all quarters. The film has five songs, four of which have been sung by Dhanush.

Dhanush will be next seen in ‘Naane Varuven’, ‘Vaathi’, ‘Sir’ and the sequel of ‘The Gray Man’.
