    Tower Air Purifier

Dyson is a name you may have heard of when it comes to high-technology products that set out to solve common household problems. The company has just set up shop in India, selling through Amazon and their own network of exclusive retail stores. In India, they're starting with the Supersonic hair dryer, V8 cordless vacuum cleaner and air purifiers.

If you've seen Dyson's Air Multiplier technology before in their blade-less fans, you'll recognise the same at work in the air purifier. Unlike a regular fan that creates 'choppy' air waves, the company's Air Multiplier creates a steady, constant and powerful stream of air. Standing in front of it when it's at full blast is a bit like standing in front of a small but relentless typhoon.

The heavy base houses the motor and a circular glass HEPA filter (rated to filter out 99.95% of particles as small as PM 0.1). The removable upper section is the Air Multiplier. The most unique thing about the Air Multiplier is that there are no fan blades -you can literally place your hands through the unit while feeling the powerful blast of air. The idea is that you can use this as both a fan and air purifier.

There are two sizes (desk and tower) and two colours available (iron/blue and white/silver). The difference is that the larger tower (40 inches high) is rated for a larger room size of 450 sq feet while the circular desk unit (24 inches high) is rated for a room up to 350 sq feet. In both sizes, the entire unit can quietly oscillate to try and reach the corners of the room. A small infrared remote controller can help you control the fan speed, oscillation, auto mode and power on/off from across the room.

However, this is also a smart air purifier with built in wi-fi, air quality monitor, temperature/humidity sensor and app control. Once you get the companion app for your phone, you can remotely control it (there are 10 fan speeds), set on/off schedules, remotely monitor air quality and view graphs on indoor air quality. The plastics of the Air Multiplier component are built to be sturdy. Sturdy enough that even breakage is covered within the first 2 years of the warranty period. Each replacement filter costs Rs 2,650 and swapping one out is a 1 minute process. Get this if you want cleaner air at home with something that looks and feels like its from the future.
