    Cinema website Film Companion recently launched a prolific critics' poll to rate the best in the film industry. For the first time ever, 23 of the industry's well-known critics voted to pick the best of Hindi cinema in 2016.

    While 'Dangal' was ranked the best film, Ram Madhvani was the clear winner in the Best Director category for his outstanding work with 'Neerja'.

    The poll, aimed at bringing together the critics fraternity to share their opinion as one unified whole, declared Alia Bhatt as the Best Actress for 'Udta Punjab' and 'Dear Zindagi', while Manoj Bajpayee was the Best Actor for his brilliant performance in 'Aligarh'.

    The winners in the final category were Shakun Batra and Ayesha Devitre Dhillon for Best Writer.

M, Vetticad, Mayank Shekhar, Fahad Samar, Sukanya Verma, Deepanjana Pal, Rajeev Masand, Ajit Duara, Saibal Chatterjee, Khalid Mohammed, Rohit Khilnani, Pratim D Gupta, Sucharita Tyagi, Amol Parchure, Uday Bhatia, Nandini Ramnath, Namrata Joshi, Rahul Desai, Bhawana Somaaya, Aniruddha Guha, and Anupama Chopra.
