The trailer of Hrithik Roshan’s upcoming aerial drama ‘Fighter’ has ruffled quite a lot of feathers!

The trailer of the Siddharth Anand directorial, which was unveiled on Monday has been condemned by Pakistani stars for spreading hate between India and Pakistan and promoting jingoism in the name of nationalism.

In the trailer, several references are made to the 2019 attack on Indian security personnel by a suicide bomber at Pulwama, as well as India’s strikes across the border in Balakot.

There are also some inflammatory comments where the characters are shown attempting to show Pakistan its place via dialogues such as “baap kaun hai,” “Malik Hum Hain”, “India occupied Pakistan” etc.

Pakistanis are also stereotyped as the villains are shown with kohled eyes.

Although such bombastic dialogues have elicited an enthusiastic response from the Indian netizens, Pakistani stars were far from unimpressed.

Pakistani Stars Lash Out At ‘Fighter’

‘Janaan’ star Hania Amir took a sly potshot at the cast. Taking to Instagram, she wrote, “So sad and unfortunate to know that there are artists out there in this day and age who are aware of the power that the cinema holds and still go ahead and feed the riff between the two countries. I feel sorry for the artists who try to bridge the gap by trusting their art as a medium.” Although she did not mention the name of the movie, many netizens realised it was a veiled dig against ‘Fighter’.

Another actress Zara Noor shared a video on Instagram where she said, “It’s so funny to see Hrithik Roshan say that (India owns Kashmir) and Pakistan has occupied Kashmir. Would anyone like to ask Kashmiris about who they serve? Because they serve no one. Kashmiris deserve an independent state, full stop. India needs to move past its entitlement of making Kashmiris slaves. That narrative is too old.”

Actor Adnan Siddiqui, who also starred in the Sridevi film ‘Mom’ also lamented that Bollywood is now pursuing a hate-filled narrative, instead of promoting harmony.

“Once celebrated for love, Bollywood now crafts hate-filled narratives, portraying us as villains. Despite our love for your films, it’s disheartening. Art transcends boundaries; let’s use it to promote love and peace. Two nations, victims of politics, deserve better.”

Touted to be India’s first ever aerial drama, the movie also stars Deepika Padukone & Karan Singh Grover in pivotal roles. It will hit the big screens on January 26.
