NEW DELHI: From book launches to convocations and football gatherings, the Ambanis had an eventful weekend.

On Sunday, the Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita added glamour to the launch of celebrated surgeon-turned-author Vijay Haribhakti's new book 'A Journey Forever'.

While the Reliance Foundation chairperson looked gorgeous in an ivory-gold ensemble, paired with pearl and emerald jewellery, the business magnate looked sharp in a tailored suit and a crisp white shirt.

The power-couple admired the author's writing skills. Haribhakti had originally written the book in 1979 while doing his medical internship in rural Maharashtra as a 21-year-old young man.

Earlier on Friday, football kept the 55-year-old Mrs Ambani busy. The Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) chairperson met with Indian Super League club owners - John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan and Ranbir Kapoor - and All India Football Federation chief Praful Patel to discuss two key initiatives in Mumbai.

The sports enthusiast, dressed in a peach top and white trousers, announced that FSDL will kick off a four-team Under-17 women's tournament and organise children's leagues starting 2019-20 season.

The same day, the 62-year-old business tycoon was busy inspiring the younger generation in Gujarat. On Friday, during the convocation ceremony at the Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University in Gandhinagar, the RIL Chairman, wearing a purple -and-gold convocation robe, urged students to dream big and never lower the barrier of ambitions.

During his speech, he also hailed Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who was the chief guest at the ceremony, as a 'karmyogi'. He also backed the Narendra Modi government's ambitious goal of making India a $5-trillion economy.
