Hollywood star Hugh Jackman confirmed on Tuesday night that he has tested positive for the coronavirus.

The 53-year-old actor informed that he has mild cold-like symptoms. In a 35-second-long video, he said, "I just wanted you to hear from me that I tested positive this morning for COVID. I have a scratchy throat and a bit of a runny nose."

"I'm fine and I'm just going to do everything I can to get better ASAP," he said.

In his caption, he wrote he was looking forward to getting back to The Winter Garden theatre as soon as he gets cleared. as soon as I'm cleared I'll be back on stage heading to River City," he added.

Soon after the actor contracted the virus, all the performances of the Broadway musical 'The Music Man', featuring Jackman, were cancelled till January 1.

The official Twitter handle of Meredith Willson’s 'The Music Man' said that the performances will resume on Sunday (January 2), but Jackman will return for the musical on January 6.

People who had purchased tickets for the show can choose to either refund or exchange those.

Jackman tested positive after his co-star Sutton Foster came down with the coronavirus last week and was replaced by an understudy. Foster is set to return on January 2.

On Christmas, the Jackman-led show joined a growing number of Broadway productions that shut down during the holiday week, with some like Broadway's 'SIX' extending their show cancellations through the end of the year.

In the last two weeks in the US, dozens of Broadway shows, including 'Hamilton', 'The Lion King' and 'Aladdin', have been forced to cancel performances as the number of COVID-19 cases surged, despite vaccine mandates for cast, crew and audiences.
