    Suits and sayings
So you thought the space race is limited to California? Last week, a homegrown duo raised money from some of the best VC or global institutional investors that anyone would give an arm and a leg for to be in their cap table. (Illustration: Zahid)

    His Father’s Son
For all those naysayers who have been saying this startup founder has left the country for good and is operating from the US never to come back, let us set the record straight. He’s there for a deeply personal reason—to be next to his dad, his inspiration—during a health crisis. We admire the fact that he has his priorities right, especially when he is under immense pressure from all sides. His silence is perplexing and false deadlines come and go repeatedly. But on this front we will say this—atta boy! Parents are paramount, come what may–unicorns, audits or otherwise, correct?

    Body Transformation
As the markets were peaking last year, so was the weight of this scion of one Mumbai’s oldest wealth management and broking houses. At age 48, he was certain he needed a health reboot before he turned 50. In the past, his life has been colourful—a jail stint, which many believe he took on to protect the family name, as well as a failed marriage. Having undergone a stringent regimen over 28 weeks, his body fat is now at sub-12% levels. Back to being slim, this new avatar will certainly make heads turn.

    Steel to Space
So you thought the space race is limited to California? Last week, a homegrown duo raised money from some of the best VC or global institutional investors that anyone would give an arm and a leg for to be in their cap table. Recently, it became the first private enterprise to enter into an agreement with ISRO that will allow the company to conduct tests and access the space agency’s facilities and technical help. Reason enough for this young steel billionaire to put in family money to grow the business. The opportunities are immense. As is our universe.

    Leading from the Front
There may be changes in the two large cement companies that have been in takeover news. We hear that a veteran in the industry who left his last stint with another large conglomerate is back in the driver’s seat. He’s been hands on at one of the two cement companies himself for close to three decades. So he knows the setup inside out.

    Smashing Pumpkins
This south-based businessman with a blue chip legacy in his home city has been caught—or caught out—by the fitness bug. Just recently, we saw him celebrating in Goa with two of his dear buddies and now we find he’s in hospital. A little bird tells us he has been training for the gruelling Ironman, which tests the boundaries of perseverance, and he fell from his bike and injured his hips so badly that they may even need replacement. A fellow industrialist said one must act according to his age, to which he was reminded of the classic adage that age is but a number. Jokes apart, it must be hurting like hell. We wish him well.
