Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whiskey is barely enough…”

    Mark Twain

There is no dearth of whisky lovers in the world. However, very few will be able to spend Rs 20 crore to give into this whim!

A bottle of Scotch whisky, often deemed the “most sought-after” among its kind has fetched a staggering $2.7 million (about Rs 20 crore) at a London auction.

Titled the Macallan Adami 1926, this priceless whisky was the top draw at Sotheby’s auction. After an extensive bidding war, it was finally sold off. The name of the buyer is yet unknown.

In an interview with AFP, Johnny Fowle, Sotheby’s head of whisky said that he had a sip of the iconic whiskey before it was sold and that it had a distinct spicy yet fruity taste. “I tasted a tiny drop – a tiny drop – of this. It’s very rich, it’s got a lot of dried fruit as you would expect, a lot of spice, a lot of wood,” he told the news agency.

    A Taste Of Timelessness

According to a BN Network report, the whisky had spent 60 years in sherry casks made of oak, before being bottled in 1986. Twelve of the bottles, including the one that sold at the auction bore came with labels painted by the celebrated Italian artist Valerio Adami.

This is not a whisky you want to waste … even a bit. Every drop is (literally) priceless!
