Taking a flight for work or personal requirements will now need a heightened sense of caution at your end. Here are top tips to get you prepared for flying in 2020:

    • Every flier must know that the airline is taking precautionary measures to the extent it can. However, much depends on the passenger to ensure personal hygiene. Using technology is absolutely need-of-the-hour in today's day and age. All airlines have issued new mandates during the pandemic phase. Please check what you need to do before boarding.
    • Domestic airlines have made it mandatory to web check-in for your flight. You can use your app or go online and log in to check-in too. This reduces a lot of hassle for the staff. You may also need to print your ticket and baggage tag. Do as many actions you need to online in order to minimise any avoidable contact at the airport.
    • Mask, screen or shield is a must. While the airline may provide many of such arrangements onboard, it is wise to buy your own safety kit and carry it. Sanitiser can be very useful. Wear comfortable full clothing if you can while travelling on the plane.
    • Special assistance to minors, infants or elderly may need to be conveyed before time (almost 48 hours prior) to the airline. Disability assistance of a wheelchair etc must be effectively conveyed on email to get the expected help by the airline staff.
    • Health status declaration and Aarogya Setu app could be a mandate by the airline. Ensure that you are clued in about the requirements that are expected from a passenger. Your proactive approach can make your flying experience safe and enjoyable too.
    • Fly only when it is really important to take the flight connection. Use your discretion in your travel plans. Please reach the airport well in time to minimise any overcrowding or rushing in any area of the terminal.
