I am 33 years old and I am planning to retire at 50. I want to invest my money via SIP to achieve the following financial goals:
    Retirement corpus: Rs 1 crore
Corpus for my daughter: Rs 1.5 crore

Could you suggest which mutual funds should I choose? And how much should I invest? I have a medium risk profile.

After 15 years, I need Rs 20 lakh for my daughter’s education. After 20 years, I need Rs 50 lakh for her marriage. After 25 years, I need Rs 80 lakh for my retirement. I want to invest Rs 5,000-6,000 per month. Are my goals realistic?

Veena Malgonkar, certified financial planner, KM Wealth Solutions, responds:

An investment of Rs 6,000 per month in equity mutual funds would give you Rs 33 lakh after 15 years, assuming an annual return of 13%. Out of Rs 33 lakh, you would need Rs 20 lakh for your daughter’s education.

Over the next 5 years, you would create a corpus of Rs 30 lakh for her wedding. Hence, you need to increase your SIP investments, whenever possible, to achieve both your goals.

You may consider to invest in the following two mutual funds:
Sundaram Large and Mid Cap Fund: Rs 3,000
Kotak Emerging Equity Fund: Rs 3,000
