    These 6 mid cap mutual funds turn Rs 5 lakh lumpsum investment into Rs 1 crore in 20 years

    In the last 20 years, several mid cap mutual funds, including Sundaram Mid Cap Fund and Nippon India Growth Fund, efficiently multiplied a Rs 5 lakh investment to Rs 1 crore. Tata Mid Cap Growth Fund and Franklin India Prima Fund also showcased impressive growth with substantial returns and notable Compound Annual Growth Rates (CAGR).

    Around six mid cap mutual funds turned a lumpsum investment of Rs 5 lakh into Rs 1 crore in the last 20 years, an analysis by ETMutualFunds showed. Around seven mid cap funds have completed 20 years in the market.

    Sundaram Mid Cap Fund turned Rs 5 lakh into Rs 3.07 crore in the last 20 years. The scheme gave a CAGR of 22.84% in the said period. Nippon India Growth Fund turned the same investment to Rs 2.88 crore in the similar time period with a CAGR of 22.45% in the same time period.


    Tata Mid Cap Growth Fund turned Rs 5 lakh to Rs 2.01 crore in the last 20 years. The scheme gave a CAGR of 20.29% in the similar period.

    Franklin India Prima Fund turned the investment to Rs 1.93 crore in the said period. This oldest mid cap fund gave a CAGR of 20.05%. Aditya Birla SL Midcap Fund turned Rs 5 lakh into Rs 1.85 crore in the last 20 year time horizon with a CAGR of 19.80%.

    Taurus Mid Cap Fund turned the lumpsum investment into Rs 1.23 crore in the said time frame with a CAGR of 17.37%.

    The other scheme that completed 20 years of existence was Quant Mid Cap Fund (earlier known as Quant Opportunities Fund). This fund turned the lumpsum investment of Rs 5 lakh into Rs 75.67 lakh in the last 20 years.

    We considered all mid cap funds that have completed 20 years in the market. We considered regular and growth options. We calculated the performance between June 27, 2004 to June 28, 2024.

    Note, the above exercise is not a recommendation. The exercise was done to find which mid cap funds turned a lumpsum investment of Rs 5 lakh into Rs 1 crore. One should not make investment or redemption decisions based on the above exercise.
