Two militants killed, two jawans injured in gunfight near Line of Control

SRINAGAR: Two militants were killed and two soldiers injured in a gunfight near the Line of Control in Karnah area of Tangdhar sector in Kashmir, army officials said today.

"We have recovered two bodies of the militants killed during the operation launched yesterday in Karnah area of Kupwara district," an army official said.

He said two jawans were also injured in the operation, which was going on till the last reports came in.

"Two jawans have sustained minor injuries in the ongoing operation in Karnah," the official said.

He said two AK 47 rifles, two rucksacks and war-like stores have been recovered from the scene of the gunbattle.

Last evening, Army had launched a counter-infiltration operation near the Line of Control after noticing suspicious movement.

"There was a brief exchange firing last night which resumed this morning," the army official said.
