Congress gets absolute majority in KarnatakaANI
In Karnataka, the Congress was able to put on a united show despite both tall leaders Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar having ambition of becoming CM.
With trends and results of assembly seats announced so far in Karnataka. It is clear that Congress is all set to sweep the state assembly polls. Following are the five Factors which worked for Congress in Karnataka.

Vocal for Local: The Congress entire campaign in Karnataka was centred around local issues and its local leaders mainly Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar. There was strict no to bringing national issues and religion in the narrative assembly polls. However in the last party did bring Bajrang Dal issue but again resorted to its main issue of corruption. The party started campaigning quite some time before assembly polls and gained the early movers advantage taking on BJP"s state leadership to make it a clash of local leaders not of its local leaders and BJP's central leadership Prime Minister Modi who is the saffron party's biggest asset.

Highly Effective Campaign: Karnataka assembly polls is perhaps the first election in the last some time where Congress outsmarted BJP in campaigning and messaging. Whether it was Pay40CM, Nandini vs Amul and kivi mele hoovu means BJP is tucking flowers on people's ears over unkempt promises.

In the aftermath of the Bajrang Dal fiasco, the party started burning effigy of BJP's 40 per cent corrupt government by projecting Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar as Ram and Lakshman in the fight against corruption.

Kept its house in order: Of lateinfightingamong Congress leaders in states has become normal. But in Karnataka the Congress was able to put on a united show despite both tall leaders Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar having ambition of becoming Chief Minister.

Did what BJP does to it: Not only Congress leaders put on a united show in Karnataka, but in a way the party did BJP to BJP by making the saffron party's sulking leaders such as former CM Jagdish Shettar join Congress. A clear message to the people that all is not well within BJP.

Five Promises: The five promises announced by Congress in its manifesto including 200 units of free electricity to every household, Rs 2000 a month to women head of families, 10kg food grains to BPL families and financial support of Rs 3,000 a month to graduate and Rs 1,500 to diploma holders unemployed youth worked in a big way for Congress in Karnataka as such announcements were missing from BJP's manifesto which was high on its agenda of Hindutva.
