At a time when fresh dissent is brewing up in Bengal BJP over announcement of new district committee formation in Bengal’s Jhargram, Purulia and some other districts, BJP Matua leaders have again called a meeting in Kalyani to discuss issues with the dissident leaders.

“The meeting and a picnic have been called to bring together the dissident leaders. The recently suspended leaders-former state Vice-President Joy Prakash Majumdar and Ritesh Tiwari, were also included in the meeting,” sources said.

“Coming together through picnics and other informal ways is a way of working together and coming together. We have told our party workers to do it in various parts of the state,” BJP National Vice-President Dilip Ghosh said, adding anybody can organize picnics and there is no harm in it.

Meanwhile, BJP has released district committee lists of various districts including Purulia, Jhargram, Diamond Harbour, Kolkata North, Kolkata South, Katwa and several other organisation districts with the names of the office bearers.

In Jhargram, a section of the party workers and leaders have closed the Jhargram party office in Gopiballavpur, displeased with the new list of District Committee in that organization's district. It was Junglemahal's Jhargram, from where BJP made a significant foothold in 2019 LoK Sabha polls.

“The old and senior leaders are dissatisfied with the announcement of the names. The unhappy leaders have decided to close the party office in protests,” BJP party sources said.
