    Russia has started evacuating civilians from Ukraine’s Kherson region, and the EU foreign policy chief says that they will destroy Moscow’s forces if Putin uses nuclear weapons.

    • After an appeal from the newly appointed head of the Kherson region, Russia announced the evacuation of residents from there. The civilians feared that the city in the southern Ukrainian region would become a new war frontline.
    • Ukraine’s army reportedly gained territory near Kherson on Wednesday as NATO continued to supply air defence systems due to Russia’s recent missile strikes across the country.
    • The city of Mykolaiv, 60 miles northwest of Kherson, was bombarded by Russian missiles Thursday. A 31-year-old man and an 80-year-old woman died when a missile hit an apartment. The regional governor, Vitaliy Kim, said teams rescued a young boy from the rubble after six hours and were still searching for more people. Five more people were reportedly trapped under the rubble.
    • EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell threatened Moscow that the west’s military would decimate its forces if President Putin deployed nuclear weapons against Ukraine.
    • UK defence secretary, Ben Wallace, claimed the international community would continue arming Ukraine with weapons from the western allies, and Russia will run out of supplies and armaments before they do.
    • Russia complained that Moscow and Gazprom representatives have not been invited to join in the investigation into the sabotage of Nord Stream pipelines. And the foreign ministry issued a statement that Russia will not accept the result of the investigation if its experts are not a part of it.
