President Biden is on the verge of signing a new executive order which will provide abortion treatment to individuals who seek it and also provide access to abortion pills. This will also update Obamacare’s birth control program to provide abortion facilities and keep it under the ambit of insurance coverage. This bill also strengthens lawyers to be able to provide their services to victims who are prosecuted for seeking an abortion.

The administration is expected to take additional steps to include privacy for patients who use digital apps for tracking their periods. They are also to be protected against medical practitioners who report abortion seekers to law enforcement hindering their privacy. Doctors who provide abortion treatment and procedures during medical emergencies would also be protected by the law. This will be done by updating the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labour Act which will involve the support of the Attorney General.

While most of the law's interpretations and their exact nature are still not clear, Biden has told his administration to look into these steps. The White House countered that none of these orders would fully restore abortion rights unless Congress decides to restore the rights of "Roe" as federal law.

This action comes at a time when the Supreme Court decided to overturn "Roe Vs Wade", as many states mainly in the south are not allowing abortion. As a result, the doctors who were providing services for abortion were having to move their business to abortion-friendly states. People for abortion are extremely angry that the administration has done nothing yet to protect abortion seekers. Sharmin Hossain, the Campaign Director of the Liberate Abortion Coalition, a group consisting of more than 150 reproduction rights groups, said they don’t have the patience to wait 190 days for the next elections to save the lives of people who need help now or they die.

Activists, Abortion Rights Groups and Democrats have been seeking urgent help from the Biden Administration regarding travel vouchers, abortion pills, and financial support for abortion seekers. They have been lobbying against FDA rules like a special license for medical drug sellers for abortion pills. Pro-Abortion Lobbies also hope that updated rules for the import of drugs can be done quickly so that people don’t have to travel to Canada for abortion pills. Similarly, the travel vouchers are for those who have to travel to different states or countries to seek help regarding abortion surgeries.

The Activists have also sought help to convert Veteran Affairs Clinics across the country to be used for abortion seekers and providers, especially in states that have banned abortion.

Morgan Hopkins hopes that abortion laws are made keeping the public requirements in mind. Those who seek abortion should be provided treatment for it. Voters are going to keep watching the actions of their elected representatives and how they respond to this directive. Abortion seekers need immediate care and every moment is important in their lives.
