    Trump widens lead over Biden
Donald Trump has widened his lead over Joe Biden, in a latest survey conducted by The Wall Street Journal. The presumptive Republican nominee has a six percent lead over Biden and this has been the highest in recent times. Another survey in June, before the first presidential debate had given Trump, only a 2% lead over his closest rival in a two-way contest. Biden who is 81-years old has a disadvantage in terms of his age. Many of the voters opined that he is too old to continue in office for a second term. The problems for the Democrats appear to be never ending with the respondents not in favor of Kamala Harris too.

Trump widens his lead over Biden:

The survey found that Trump presently has the support among 48% of the respondents in the survey while Biden has the support of only 42% of the respondents. This is a six percent lead that Trump has over Biden. This is for the first time that Trump has widened his lead over his opponent in a two-way contest. Since February, he has only maintained a two-percent lead over his opponent.

This survey was conducted two days after the first presidential debate which saw Biden fumbling and unable to speak coherently. This has added to the woes of the Democrats who are seeking to replace Biden on the ballot box.

    Opposition to Biden:

The survey noted that over 80% of the voters sought Biden’s replacement after the first debate. Among the Democrats, 76% of the them said that the age factor was critical and Biden was too old to run his re-election campaign. Two-thirds of the Democrats felt that he should be replaced on the ballot box.

    Kamala Harris’s popularity:

In recent times, the Democrats are pinning down their hopes on Vice-President Kamala Harris. However, there is bad news in store for the Democrats. The Wall Street Journal Survey said that only 35% of the respondents viewed Harris in favorable terms whereas 58% opposed her potential nomination.

    FAQs:

Is this survey, a cause for concern for the Democrats?
The Democrats who were pinning their hopes on Harris will be worried after the findings of the survey have been published. She has the support of only 35% of the electorate and this may be insufficient to secure a victory.

When is the Democratic Party National Convention?
The Democrats will hold their national convention from August 19-22, 2024. This will be held in Chicago and Biden is expected to receive his official nomination.
