'Planet-killer asteroid' is about to cross the Earth at great speeds: How to watch it live?

    Synopsis

A planet-killer asteroid is just about to whizz past the Earth at a few thousand miles per hour, also sending dust particles up the Earth's atmosphere. Here's how this 'planet-killing asteroid' may affect the Earth.

'Planet-killer asteroid' is about to cross the Earth at great speeds: How to watch it live?
    Asteroid
A massive asteroid is currently on the loose, rapidly proceeding towards the Earth, at a very dangerously close distance, and can even be visible through a telescope on June 27 in the night sky. However, even though it will appear to be close to the Earth, the mountain-sized asteroid will not be actually hitting the Earth as it will pass by at 17 times the distance the moon is from the Earth.

Asteroid deemed as a 'space killer' passing by the Earth at 60,000 miles an hour

However, if you think that the asteroid whizzing past the Earth, will have not much effect on the planet, think again. Asteroids this big in mass and passing through at 60,000-plus miles an hours will release dust particles that will appear significantly towards the Earth's orbit and atmosphere.

The European Space Agency has already deemed this asteroid as a potential hazard owing to its massive size, roughly 1.1 and 2.4 miles wide, according to reports. Although this planet-killing asteroid is massively big, it is still smaller in comparison to previous asteroids that have whizzed past the Earth in earlier instances.

Asteroid that killed dinosaurs still bigger than the latest asteroid whizzing past Earth

For example, it is nearly 10 times smaller than the size of the Vredefort asteroid, which the largest space rock to come in proximity to the Earth and five times smaller than the space rock that hit the Earth 66 million years ago. This space rock had the ability to wipe out the dinosaurs according to history.

This asteroid can be watched using a telescope in the night sky June 27 onwards as it passes by the Earth at great speeds. Meanwhile, you can also watch a free livestream by the Virtual Telescope Project that will show a live view of the asteroid from the Bellatrix Astronomical Observatory located Ceccano, Italy, according to Yahoo News.

    FAQs:

Will the asteroid going past the Earth be very big?
Yes, the asteroid to whizz past the Earth at 60,000 miles per hour is almost the size of a mountain and has the ability to throw massive amounts of dust particles up the Earth's atmosphere.

Where is the Bellatrix Astronomical Observatory located?
Bellatrix Astronomical Observatory is located at Ceccano, Italy and will be utilized for observing the planet-killer asteroid as it goes by the Earth at great velocity.
