    Essence Atkins, Melissa Ponzio, and Vaughn W. Hebron are set to appear in recurring roles for Season 2 of Onyx Collective's 'Reasonable Doubt,' according to a Deadline report.


    New Cast Members

    Essence Atkins, known for 'First Wives Club,' will play Dr. Brandy Michaels. Dr. Michaels is a domestic violence expert who provides clear and pointed explanations in court about why many victims stay in abusive relationships.

    Melissa Ponzio, famous for her role in 'Chicago Fire,' will portray Lucy Wargo. Lucy is a new District Attorney in Los Angeles, coming from Las Vegas. She is by-the-book and officious, with a hidden ambition and determination to do the right thing.

    Vaughn W. Hebron, from 'The Oval,' will play Adrian Hunter. Adrian is an NFL player and mentee of the late JT. He helps Jax sort through his mentor's memorabilia and appraise items.

    Returning and Guest Stars

    Kandi Burruss, previously announced as a guest star, recurs as Eboni Phillips. Eboni is the mother of JT’s child Natasha, who has turned her life around after a wild past.

    Morris Chestnut joins the cast this season as Corey Cash. The season also features McKinley Freeman as Lewis Stewart, Tim Jo as Daniel, Angela Grovey as Krystal, Thaddeus J. Mixson as Spenser, and Aderinsola Olabode as Naima.

    Show's Plot

    'Reasonable Doubt' follows high-powered criminal defense attorney Jacqueline “Jax” Stewart, played by Emayatzy Corinealdi, as she navigates past traumas, a failing marriage, motherhood, and a murder case.

    In Season 2, Jax attempts to get her life back on track after last season’s difficult trial and deadly affair. Her friend confesses to killing her husband, claiming self-defense. However, an uncompromising prosecutor challenges this claim. Jax enlists an ambitious defense attorney to help, but tensions rise. Jax faces the challenge of defending her friend, saving her marriage, and managing the biggest case of her career.

    'Reasonable Doubt' is created, written, and executive produced by Raamla Mohamed. Executive producers include Kerry Washington, Pilar Savone for Simpson Street, Larry Wilmore via Wilmore Films, and Anton Cropper. Co-executive producers are Shawn Holley, Jon Leshay, Tamara Gregory, Lena Cordina, TASH Gray, and Resheida Brady.     Melissa Ponzio starred in 'Teen Wolf' for six seasons and reprised her role in 'Teen Wolf: The Movie.' She recurs in Apple TV+'s 'The Big Door Prize' and has appeared in 'Die Hart' and 'Thunder Force.'

    Vaughn W. Hebron was a series regular on Paramount+'s 'The Game' reboot and a lead in 'The Oval.' He also appeared in 'The Devil You Know.'
