PTI'CT-1', a tiger that had killed 13 persons in three districts of Vidarbha region in Maharashtra over the past 10 months, was captured on Thursday
The tiger, which was moving in the Wadsa forest range, was captured by the forest department in Gadchiroli district of the state, PTI quoted an offical as saying.
CT-1 is referred to as a conflict tiger - that's the name given to tigers that attack humans other than for reasons like defending cubs or saving its own life.
The tiger had killed 13 persons - six in Wadsa, four in Bhandara district and three in Brahmapuri forest range in Chandrapur district - from December last year.
CT-1 was considered a threat to human lives, and so the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Nagpur at meeting on October 4, directed that the tiger be captured.
The Tadoba Tiger Rescue team, the Rapid Response Teams of Chandrapur, Navegaon-Nagzira and other units worked to capture it.
The tiger was tranquilised and captured from Wadsa forest range in the morning. It was sent to the Gorewada rescue centre in Nagpur, more than 180 kilometres away, for rehabilitation.
