    World's 'dirtiest man' Amou Haji dies soon after taking his first bath in six decades

    Amou Haji, dubbed the 'dirtiest man' in the world, has died. He avoided taking baths for over 60 years.

    Amou Haji, an Iranian man considered the "dirtiest man in the world," has passed away at the age of 94.

    He died on October 23 in the village of Dejgah after he was persuaded villagers to take a bath for more than 60 years.

    As per the state media, Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Amou Haji had not taken a bath with water or soap for more than six decades

    Local villagers said Amou had undergone "emotional setbacks in his youth," which caused his repulsion to take baths.

    In 2014, the Tehran Times reported Amou Haji survived by eating animals killed on roads by vehicles and smoking pipes filled with the excrement of animals.

    The man, covered in soot and living in a cinder-block shack, feared that taking baths would make him sick. Besides, some photos have shown Amou Haji smoking multiple cigarettes at once. He was also covered in a documentary titled 'The Strange Life of Amou Haji.'

    IRNA reported that the villagers were recently able to persuade Amou Haji to take a bath with water and soap after more than 60 years. The reasons for this are not known. He did not live for long after that.
