    Sept 26 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Major League Baseball games on Monday:

    Indians 7, Tigers 4

    Coco Crisp hit a two-run home run and Roberto Perez added a solo shot plus an RBI single and Cleveland's bullpen pieced together five relief innings to help the Indians defeat the Detroit Tigers and clinch their eighth American League Central Division title.

    Crisp and Rajai Davis singled with two out in the eighth before Perez lined a single to center to give Cleveland a 6-4 lead.

    Carlos Santana hit a pop fly near the right field line that J.D. Martinez dropped for a run-scoring error to make it 7-4.

    Cleveland ace Corey Kluber started but was taken out with right-groin tightness after four innings and 60 pitches, leading 4-2. He allowed two runs on four hits with a walk and three strikeouts.

    Dan Otero (four outs) and Brian Shaw (three) each allowed a run before Andrew Miller (10-1) retired five straight batters and was awarded the victory.

    Cody Allen picked up his 30th save for pitching the ninth.

    Cubs 12, Pirates 2

    Javier Baez hit a grand slam and Kris Bryant added a two-run homer as the Chicago Cubs pounded the Pittsburgh Pirates for their 100th win of the year.

    The Cubs (100-56) reached 100 victories for the first time since 1935.

    After Chicago built a 5-0 lead against Pittsburgh rookie starter Chad Kuhl, Bryant hit his 39th homer, a two-run shot, in a six-run sixth for an 11-0 lead.

    Marlins 7, Mets 3

    The Miami Marlins, playing inspired baseball in their first game since the death of pitcher Jose Fernandez, routed the New York Mets.

    Fernandez, who was already a two-time All-Star at age 24, died early on Sunday in a boating accident.

    There were numerous tributes to Fernandez throughout the game and every Marlins player wore No. 16 in honor of their fallen teammate.

    Before the game, Mets and Marlins players and coaches exchanged hugs whie the Marlins players also kneeled around the mound.

    Yankees 7, Blue Jays 5

    Mark Teixeira and Aaron Hicks homered in a five-run ninth inning and the New York Yankees came back to defeat the Toronto Blue Jays.

    The Blue Jays scored twice in the bottom of the ninth.

    Adam Warren (7-4) pitched two scoreless relief innings to pick up the win.

    Diamondbacks 14, Nationals 4

    Jean Segura had three hits, including two homers and Yasmany Tomas had two hits and drove in five runs as Arizona Diamondbacks hit five homers to beat the Washington Nationals.

    Zach Godley (5-4) came out of the bullpen to pitch three scoreless innings while allowing just one hit to get the win.

    Segura hit a two-run homer off rookie reliever Lucas Giolito to make it 12-4 in the eighth and Jake Lamb followed with a solo shot before Chris Owings had an RBI groundout in the ninth for Arizona to make it 14-4.

    Brewers 8, Rangers 3

    Jonathan Villar homered twice while Matt Garza went six solid innings against his former team and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Texas Rangers.

    Texas (92-65) no longer owns the best record in the American League, falling behind idle Boston (92-64) by a 1/2 game.

    The AL West champs were constantly playing catch up as the Brewers (71-86) roughed up Rangers starter Martin Perez early, with Villar inflicting most of the damage with a two-run shot in the third and a three-run bomb in the seventh.

    Perez (10-11) was torched for eight runs on nine hits over 6-2/3 innings.

    White Sox 7, Rays 1

    Justin Morneau drove in three runs and James Shields allowed one run in six innings and won for the first time since July 26 as the Chicago White Sox beat the Tampa Bay Rays.

    Shields (6-18) snapped a six-game losing streak, scattered seven hits and struck out six.

    Drew Smyly (7-12) took the loss for the Rays after allowing three runs and seven hits in five innings.

    Reds 15, Cardinals 2

    With a chance to tie the San Francisco Giants for the National League's second wild-card spot, the St. Louis Cardinals instead endured their worst loss of the year as the Cincinnati Reds piled up a season high for runs in a 15-2 blowout.

    Right fielder Steve Selsky led the assault, going 5-for-5 with two runs and four RBIs.

    Left fielder Adam Duvall went 4-for-6 with four runs and five RBIs, giving him 100 RBIs for the year, and second baseman Brandon Phillips went 4-for-5.

    Rookie pitcher Tim Adleman (3-4) went seven strong innings, allowed four hits and two runs with no walks and four strikeouts.

    Mariners 4, Astros 3 (11 innings)

    Robinson Cano homered twice, including with two outs in the top of the 11th inning, to carry Seattle to a win over Houston.

    Cano cranked his 35th home run off Astros right-hander Luke Gregerson (4-3) with Gregerson one strike away from striking out the side. Mariners right-hander Nick Vincent earned the save, his third, while Drew Storen (4-3) won in relief for Seattle.

    The Mariners moved 1-1/2 games ahead of the Astros in the chase for an American League wild-card slot.

    Both Toronto, which occupies the top spot, and Detroit lost on Monday while the Orioles were idle.

    Angels 2, Athletics 1

    Albert Pujols' weak ground ball scored Yunel Escobar in the bottom of the eighth inning and gave the Los Angeles Angels a 2-1 win over the Oakland Athletics.

    Mike Trout hit his 29th home run for the Angels, who have won five of their last six and seven of 10.
