Synopsis

Online-only delivery food brands are helping high-end restaurants make money from their idle kitchens. But this endeavour can only be successful with Zomato and Swiggy. The NRAI is meeting with the aggregators today for another round of discussions. Can they negotiate better terms?

The aggregator model, which defined business for several industries in 2010, is falling flat. Cab-aggregator Uber, hotel aggregators Oyo and Airbnb, or food-service aggregators Zomato and Swiggy, are all locked in a war with the sectors they wanted to be a part of over the fundamental question of fair competition.
