Synopsis

In a free-wheeling interview, Kara Hurst, global vice-president for sustainability at Amazon, talks about how the e-commerce major is minimising its carbon footprint through sustainable packaging and elimination of single-use plastic, waste minimisation, faster delivery, and more. Edited excerpts.

Kara Hurst has been in the sustainability profession for three decades, with the last nine years as global vice president for sustainability at Amazon. In a free-wheeling interaction, Hurst tells ET Prime that the younger generation cares a lot about sustainability. “They want to see this as part of how a company operates, how products are produced. And there are cases in which they may be willing to pay a little more in general,” she says.
