IIM Ahmedabad students beg professor for 2-day extension to watch T20 WC match, email goes viral

It is rightly said that cricket is not just a game in India, but a religion. Recently a professor from the highest-ranked business school in India, revealed that her students had requested a two-day extension so that they could watch the India Vs South Africa T20 World Cup in peace. The students guaranteed that this would not interfere with the quality of their work.

Promila Agarwal, who is an Associate Professor at the prestigious IIM Ahmedabad, took to X and shared a screenshot of the carefully written email.

The students urged her to give an extension so that they could watch the match. “As you may be aware, the India vs South Africa World Cup final is taking place today, a monumental event that holds significant emotional weight for many of us. “We assure you that we remain dedicated to our studies and are committed to submitting high-quality work. An extension of two days would allow us to balance this important occasion with our academic responsibilities effectively,” the note read.

The email gained more than 681 likes on X. One user praised their writing skills. “Responsible students of IIMs - good to see such clarity.” they wrote. “Perfectly understandable request for a genuine reason. Please oblige. And do watch the final, “ wrote another.

One X user jokingly suggested that her students may have resorted to Chat GPT to write the letter, to which she rushed to their defense. “For extensions, their emails can beat any AI. They have a long legacy, I am sure you know it better,” she wrote.
