With lack of awareness and a manageable claims burden, the health-insurance scheme has avoided trouble so far. But that's not a sustainable formula.

Ignorance truly is bliss. Ask the folks running the Ayushman Bharat-National Health Protection Mission (AB-NHPM). While claim ratio for the scheme has been 80% in the tiny union territories of Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli taken together, it was 8% in the much larger state of Gujarat, and 15% in Jharkhand.
