A missile reportedly struck close to a merchant vessel off Aden, with no reported damage. Meanwhile, a drone incident occurred near Eilat, triggering Israeli air raid sirens. The Houthis, known for such attacks, have not claimed responsibility yet. Their ongoing campaign aims to disrupt shipping in the region, citing the Gaza conflict as a motive.

    Hezbollah vows to intensify attacks against Israel after senior military commander is killed

    Earlier Wednesday, Hezbollah fired a massive barrage of rockets into northern Israel, further escalating tensions as the fate of an internationally backed plan for a cease-fire in Gaza hung in the balance. Hezbollah, an Iran-backed ally of the Palestinian Hamas group, has traded fire with Israel nearly every day since the Israel-Hamas war began on Oct. 7, and says it will only stop if there is a truce in Gaza.

    Air raid sirens had sent the city's roughly 75,000 residents running for shelter, after a day of continuous rocket fire from Lebanon at northern Israel. Israel's military said throughout the day it had responded by striking Hezbollah targets.

    Hamas rocket attack from Gaza sets off air raid sirens in Tel Aviv for the first time in months

    Hamas' military wing claimed the attack, and rocket launches could be heard in central Gaza. The Israeli military said eight projectiles crossed into Israel after being launched from the area of the southern Gaza city of Rafah, where Israeli forces recently launched an incursion. It said "a number" of the projectiles were intercepted.
