Everyone is interested in millets. But where are the crops?
The praiseworthy efforts to make mainstream millets in the food system are in danger of losing steam because of a lack of incentives to attract farmers.

India's summer crops sowing marginally lower at 70.3 lakh hectare
The ministry's data showed that the sowing area under pulses and coarse cereals is higher year-on-year, while the acreage of rice and oilseeds is lower. Coming to pulses and coarse cereals, the area increased from 19.09 lakh hectares to 19.81 lakh hectares, and 11.56 lakh hectares to 12.01 lakh hectares, data showed.

This landmark decision will ensure troops are supplied with native and traditional grains after over half a century, when these were discontinued in favour of wheat atta," the Army said.

No impact of COVID-19 pandemic on kharif sowing; acreage up 21.20% so far: Government
The country has so far received good rainfall and water level in 123 reservoirs across the country is in good position, it said in the latest sowing data.
