Suspected militants ambush Manipur CM's advance security convoy, one injured
Suspected militants attacked the advance security convoy of Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh in Kangpokpi district, injuring one personnel. The convoy was en route to violence-affected Jiribam district when the ambush occurred around 10.30 am near Kotlen village along National Highway-53. Multiple gunshots were fired, prompting security forces to retaliate. One convoy vehicle's driver sustained bullet injuries and is being transported to a hospital in Imphal.
Manipur MLA writes to CM Biren Singh for seeking deportation of Myanmar refugees
The MLA, Leishiyo Keishing, said the influx of illegal immigrants into Manipur since November 2023 and expressed alarm at the refugee population, which has surpassed 5800 individuals. Notably, biometric data for 5173 persons has been captured under the supervision of the District Administration.

Elaborating on the newly launched Chief Minister's Ima Nongthangleima Yaipha Tengbang Scheme, Biren informed that women who are above 40 years of age, with no source of income and not covered under any welfare scheme taken up by the Government, would be provided financial assistance of Rs. 6000 per annum (Rs. 500 per month).
