The TMC alleged that Bose's conduct was undemocratic, violating constitutional values and impairing free and fair elections in the state. The TMC pointed out that the Election Commission of India has taken action against governors who have used their offices for canvassing for political parties, such as former Governor of Himachal Pradesh Gulsher Ahmad in 1993 and then Governor of Rajasthan Kalyan Singh in 2019.
