    Senior Congress leader and sitting Madhya Pradesh MLA Ramniwas Rawat has joined the BJP, dealing another blow to the opposition party following the withdrawal of its candidate from the Indore Lok Sabha seat. Rawat, who joined the BJP at a rally in Sheopur district in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, was considered close to Congress veteran Digvijaya Singh. Morena mayor Sharda Solanki also joined the BJP alongside Rawat. Rawat's defection comes ahead of polling in the Morena Lok Sabha seat, where Sheopur is located, scheduled for May 7.
