    Tejashwi Yadav claims another bridge has collapsed in Bihar

    RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav claimed a bridge collapse in Bihar, but officials clarified it was a makeshift structure washed away by heavy rain. Yadav shared a video of the incident in East Champaran district, where locals blamed poor materials. The District Magistrate confirmed it wasn't a bridge but a drain crossing covered with a small structure that collapsed due to rain. The incident adds to recent bridge collapses in Bihar, sparking political accusations.

    Amarnath Yatra temporarily suspended due to heavy rain

    The Amarnath Yatra was temporarily suspended on Saturday on both routes to the cave shrine due to heavy rainfall. Intermittent heavy rains along the Baltal and Pahalgam routes led officials to take precautionary measures to ensure pilgrim safety. Over 1.50 lakh devotees have already visited the 3,800-metre-high cave shrine to see the naturally formed ice lingam. The yatra began on June 29 via the traditional 48-km Nunwan-Pahalgam route and the shorter but steeper 14-km Baltal route, and will continue until August 19. Last year, more than 4.5 lakh pilgrims offered prayers at the shrine.

    Over 20,000 pilgrims visit Amarnath cave shrine, total crosses 1.50 lakh

    In Srinagar, over 20,000 pilgrims visited the Amarnath shrine on Friday, totaling over 1.50 lakh since June 29 via Nunwan-Pahalgam in Anantnag and Baltal routes. The 3,800-metre-high ice lingam shrine saw 1,700 security personnel, 275 children, and one transgender participant involved, two deaths reported. The pilgrimage with sadhus ends August 19. Over 4.5 lakh visited last year.

    President to witness Rath Yatra in Puri on July 7

    President Droupadi Murmu will visit Odisha from July 6 to 9. During her visit, she will witness the Rath Yatra in Puri on July 7, according to an official release from Rashtrapati Bhavan. She will also attend the 96th death anniversary of Utkalamani Pandit Gopabandhu Das in Bhubaneswar on July 6.
