This restructuring, based on a family settlement agreement from April 30, will affect entities including Godrej Industries, Godrej Consumer Products, Godrej Properties, and others within the GILAC and G&B Groups.

    Reliance Industries, led by billionaire Mukesh Ambani, has sought approval from the Competition Commission of India (CCI) for an $8.5 billion merger between Viacom18 and Star India Pvt Ltd (SIPL). The merger aims to combine the entertainment businesses of Viacom18, part of Reliance Industries, with SIPL, a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company (TWDC). Post-merger, SIPL will become a joint venture held by RIL, Viacom18, and TWDC subsidiaries.

    Reliance Industries and Walt Disney have applied for antitrust clearance for their $8.5 billion media merger in India, arguing that their combined influence, particularly in cricket broadcasting, will not negatively impact advertisers. The deal, announced in February, is anticipated to face close scrutiny due to its potential to establish India's largest entertainment entity, with extensive TV channels, streaming services, and cricket rights. The companies have assured the Competition Commission of India (CCI) that the cricket rights were obtained through a competitive bidding process, and competitors can bid when these rights expire in 2027 and 2028.

    Air India, Vistara CEOs to address staff about proposed merger on May 13

    Air India and Vistara chiefs will address staff on May 13 regarding the proposed merger of the two airlines. The merger, announced in November 2022, entails Vistara merging with Air India, with Singapore Airlines acquiring a 25.1% stake in Air India. Vistara, a joint venture between Singapore Airlines and Tata Group, is part of the deal. The townhall meeting, to be held in a phygital mode, will feature Air India CEO Campbell Wilson and Vistara CEO Vinod Kannan, who is also the Chief Integration Officer for the merger.
