    Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Gauhati Medical College & Hospital to review the construction of the new Mother & Child Hospital wing, costing Rs. 375 crores. This eight-floor facility aims to address the rising number of maternal and pediatric cases. During a meeting with health officials, Sarma discussed faculty recruitment and capacity expansion. He highlighted that 70% of the construction is complete, with the rest expected by April 2025. Sarma also emphasized improving healthcare access and transitioning to solar energy for hospital operations.

    NCBS and NIMHANS launch Rohini Nilekani Centre for Brain and Mind

    The Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies (RMP) will fund CBM operations for five years, from April 2023. CBM will focus on long-term examination of environmental and genetic factors involved in brain development which underlie mental illnesses. NCBS will employ around 100 more people for this centre.

    Rohini Nilekani to give Rs 100 crore for new mental health research centre

    The Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies Foundation has provided a grant of INR 100 crore to the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences and the National Centre for Biological Sciences to help establish a centre for brain and mind. The centre will spend five years researching five mental illnesses, including bipolar disorder, dementia, and addiction.

    Bayer has set up the oxygen plant at the CN Centre of the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), in partnership with LabourNet as part of its CSR initiative. The PSA Oxygen Plant has been designed to cater to the high demand for medical-grade oxygen at the hospital.
