Tragic lightning strike claims life of 20-year-old in Assam's Chirang district
The victim has been identified as Bijoy Maduwa. Maduwa's lifeless body was discovered by his family members on Friday morning, prompting them to immediately notify the local authorities and the health department. Manipur: Curfew relaxed in twin districts of Imphal for 7 hours
The Manipur government relaxed the curfew in Imphal East and West districts for seven hours from 5 am on Friday to facilitate common people to purchase essential items, officials said. Following fresh violence in various parts of the ethnic strife-torn state, the administration had on Thursday imposed a total curfew in the two districts as a precautionary measure.

According to the flood report of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), nearly 2.67 lakh people have been affected alone in Bajali district, followed by 80061 people affected in Nalbari, 73233 people in Barpeta, 22577 people in Lakhimpur, 14583 people in Darrang, 14180 people in Tamulpur, 7282 people in Baksa, and 4750 people in Goalpara district.

According to the flood report of Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), the flood situation in Bajali is more worst as nearly 2.60 lakh people have been affected in the district followed by 77702 people affected in Nalbari, 65221 people in Barpeta, 25613 people in Lakhimpur, 24023 people in Baksa, 19208 people in Tamulpur, 13704 people in Darrang, 6538 people in Kokrajhar district.

Assam struggling to stay afloat; 31,000 people affected by flood waters in 10 districts
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert and predicted “very heavy to extremely heavy” rainfall in various districts of the northeastern state over the next five days. Approximately 31,000 people are still suffering from the floods in Assam, said an official.
Assam government and 3F Oil Palm plant ceremonial oil palm
The State Government of Assam has organized a ceremonial plantation of Oil Palm at Bokanala, Baginadi Block, Lakhimpur, under the National Mission on Edible Oil - Oil Palm (NMEO-OP) in association with 3F Oil Palm. The company has established a nursery at Bokulbari village in Lakhimpur district and another nursery is coming up at Chirang. 3F Oil Palm has signed an MoU with the Government of Assam and aims to develop over 20,000 hectares of area under Oil Palm over the next five years. The company also plans to set up a greenfield processing plant and has an upcoming integrated Oil Palm processing unit in Arunachal Pradesh.
Over 2.10 lakh people still under flood waters in Assam, 1 more die
One more person died in Cachar district, taking the toll due to floods and landslides to 194, according to a bulletin of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA). The water levels in all the rivers were receding and none were flowing above the danger level, it said.
Assam CM directs Chirang DC to step up surveillance for child trafficking control
Sarma who undertook a visit to Chirang to assess the post flood damage particularly caused by Nijla river along with large scale erosion, said that State government will take up a scheme to prevent recurrence of such deluge caused by the upstream river in the district.

The total number of affected people declined to 22.21 lakh in 28 districts on Sunday while the figure was 25.10 lakh on the previous day, according to a bulletin issued by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).

In revised guidelines, ASDMA said the curfew time in these districts will be round the clock. All work places, business/commercial establishments, Dine in Restaurants, hotels, resorts, Dhabas and other eateries, takeaway of food items from restaurants/dhabas and other eateries, opening of Sale counters, showrooms etc. of cold storages and warehouses will be closed in these districts.
