    Israeli tanks advance into areas in north and south Gaza

    While the offensive focused on Gaza, in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, one man was killed and five were wounded in an Israeli strike near the city of Tulkarm, according to the Palestinian health ministry. The dead man was a member of militant group Islamic Jihad, the group said. The Israeli military issued no comment. Hours after Netanyahu's comments about Gaza, the armed wing of Hamas released a video purporting to show weapons-making, in a show of defiance.

    Karnataka rains: Red alert issued in state's coastal districts

    The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) has issued a red alert for coastal Karnataka due to expected extremely heavy rainfall on June 22, with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds predicted at isolated places statewide. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts heavy to very heavy rains in coastal and adjacent districts of interior Karnataka between June 21 and June 25, with potential for widespread rainfall and landslides.

    When looking at any sector, it is good to know the history of that sector, it helps in bringing the context to the possible investing time frame and also the risks which come with that particular investment. Aquaculture as a sector came into limelight in 1992-93. Best of the names of India Inc of that time entered the sector as the Indian economy was opening up and exports were expected to pick up. It was assumed that given the long coastline the production of shrimps would be an easy business to grow. But reality turned out to be very different and the story is full of troubles. There were multiple reasons, right from the nature of business itself and lack of coordinated and sustained support by the government. But now with NDA 3.0 in power in two states which dominated this sector, will there be a more coordinated effort to bring this industry back on track and turnaround is sustained?

    Delhi is facing an extended period of intense heat, with the IMD issuing alerts for high temperatures. The city has experienced eight consecutive days of heatwave conditions, with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. Relief is expected later in the week, but until then, residents are advised to take precautions against the scorching heat.

    The Gujarat government, with the Centre and World Bank, has built 76 multi-purpose cyclone shelters (MPCS), mainly in coastal districts, to save lives during natural calamities. Cyclones have become frequent on the 1,600 km-long coastline of Gujarat, and actively relocating people from affected areas to safe locations is crucial before such disasters strike, the state government said in an official release.

    Maintenance works by KPTCL and Bescom will cause power supply interruptions in Bengaluru until June 12, affecting various areas. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall is expected in multiple regions including Maharashtra, coastal and north interior Karnataka, and Madhya Maharashtra.
